Sibilla Egen

Family

Father: Hans Egen was a famous councilman and major of Dinkelsbühl.

Mother: Barbara Lagenmantel

They were a catholic family and had connections to medieval nobility.

Personal Dates

1470 Sibilla Egen is born.
1493 She marries Hans von Rinderbach. Both, her husband and her son died very early.
1509 Start of the Sibilla-Egen-Foundation
1517 She marries Anton Hofmeister, the son of the mayor of Bad Wimpfen. Johannes Brenz is a good friend of him. Johannes Brenz and Anton Hofmeister campaign for the Reformation in Schwäbisch Hall.
28th September 1538 Sibilla Egen dies. Her husband died six years before her.

Social action

Sibilla Egen was a very rich and social person. She helped deprived people of her community. In her testament she asked for using her ability to help these people. She supported midwives and helped young boys to learn a trade.

In this time foundations for midwives, unmarried women, widows, tradespeople, sick and people in need  were something new. Her foundation was the start of the social budget of Schwäbisch Hall.

This is the house of Sibilla Egen in Schwäbisch Hall (near the cityhall).

History of the school

23rd March 2001 The farming and domestic economy school ( Haus und Landwirtschaftliche Schule) changes into Sibilla Egen School.
14th March 2003 Groundbreaking for the extension of the school building.
July - September 2004 Laboratory S1 is built.
November 2004 Ghana-evening (there they show some pictures of their excursion)
March 2005 Some students get the marketing award.
October 2005 Open day with the celebration of the new bulding.
March 2006 Sibilla Egen Day
April 2006 Gregor Staub, trainer for memory visits the school.
May 2006 On the 850 year celebration of the city Schwäbisch Hall some students dressed up for Sibilla Egen.
December 2006  Piano concert with  the teacher W. Feederle.
June - September 2007 Exposition of Wolfgang Göhner.
